Heaven over Lake. Stepping on the tiger's tail. Conduct under pressure.

The Lines

初九:素履,往无咎。

Line 1 — Simple conduct. Walk simply. The plain approach works.

九二:履道坦坦,幽人贞吉。

Line 2 — Treading a smooth, level course. Quiet, steady walking. The safest line.

六三:眇能视,跛能履,履虎尾,咥人,凶。武人为于大君。

Line 3 — A one-eyed person treads on the tiger's tail. Acting beyond your capacity.

九四:履虎尾,愬愬终吉。

Line 4 — Caution and circumspection lead to good fortune. Every step deliberate. Every breath controlled.

九五:夬履,贞厉。

Line 5 — Resolute conduct. You know the tiger is there. You proceed anyway because the path requires it.

上九:视履考祥,其旋元吉。

Line 6 — Look at your conduct and examine the favorable signs. Review the entire walk. If it was honest and careful all the way through, supreme good fortune.
