Modesty

谦。亨,君子有终。

Earth over Mountain. The mountain inside the earth. Power that doesn't announce itself.

The Lines

初六:谦谦君子,用涉大川,吉。

Line 1 — A modest person of modest means. Free to take on the biggest challenges because there's no ego at stake.

六二:鸣谦,贞吉。

Line 2 — Modesty that comes to expression. Recognized by others naturally.

九三:劳谦,君子有终,吉。

Line 3 — A meritorious modest person. Genuine accomplishment that doesn't announce itself.

六四:无不利,撝谦。

Line 4 — Nothing that would not further modest conduct. Every direction is favorable.

六五:不富以其邻,利用侵伐,无不利。

Line 5 — Not boastful of wealth. Modesty backed by power. Dangerous because unexpected.

上六:鸣谦,利用行师,征邑国。

Line 6 — Modesty that comes to expression. When even modesty must act with force, it acts decisively.
