噬嗑。亨。利用狱。

Fire over Thunder. The obstacle that must be removed by direct force.

The Lines

初九:屦校灭趾,无咎。

Line 1 — Feet in the stocks. A small punishment for a small offense. Accept it and learn.

六二:噬肤灭鼻,无咎。

Line 2 — Bites through tender meat. Easy obstacle. You may go too far.

六三:噬腊肉,遇毒,小吝,无咎。

Line 3 — Bites on old dried meat and strikes on something poisonous. Hard obstacle with hidden danger.

九四:噬干胏,得金矢,利艰贞,吉。

Line 4 — Bites on dried gristly meat. The toughest bite. Requires every tool available.

六五:噬干肉,得黄金,贞厉,无咎。

Line 5 — Bites on dried lean meat. Fair judgment despite difficulty.

上九:何校灭耳,凶。

Line 6 — Neck in the wooden cangue. Too late. The obstacle consumed the person.
