艮其背,不获其身,行其庭,不见其人,无咎。

Mountain over Mountain. Complete stillness. Knowing when to stop.

The Lines

初六:艮其趾,无咎,利永贞。

Line 1 — Keeping the toes still. Don't start walking. Stay.

六二:艮其腓,不拯其随,其心不快。

Line 2 — Keeping the calves still. Forced stillness. Frustrating but correct.

九三:艮其限,列其夤,厉薰心。

Line 3 — Keeping the hips still. Rigidity, not peace. The heart suffocates.

六四:艮其身,无咎。

Line 4 — Keeping the trunk still. No blame. The correct stillness. Calm, not rigid.

六五:艮其辅,言有序,悔亡。

Line 5 — Keeping the jaws still. Silence that precedes meaningful speech.

上九:敦艮,吉。

Line 6 — Noble-hearted keeping still. Stillness from the heart. The mountain at rest.
