坤。元亨，利牝马之贞。君子有攸往，先迷后得主。利西南得朋，东北丧朋。安贞吉。
Six broken lines. Pure yin. The ground that receives everything and transforms it into something that grows.
坤 is not passive. A field that grows wheat, rice, and forests is doing enormous work. It just doesn't announce itself. The receptive is the force that turns seed into harvest without taking credit for the harvest.
This hexagram appears when the right move is to follow, support, and receive rather than initiate.
The Lines
初六：履霜，坚冰至。
Line 1 — Frost underfoot. Solid ice is coming. Early signs of what's approaching. Pay attention to small signals. The frost doesn't lie about the winter behind it.
六二：直方大，不习无不利。
Line 2 — Straight, square, great. The core of 坤. Be direct, be solid, be spacious. Don't force an agenda. The receptive at its best serves without a personal mission and succeeds precisely because of that.
六三：含章可贞。或从王事，无成有终。
Line 3 — Hidden lines. Able to remain steadfast. You have abilities you're not showing. Good. Keep them hidden for now. If called to serve, finish the work and don't seek recognition.
六四：括囊，无咎无誉。
Line 4 — A tied-up sack. No blame, no praise. Complete containment. Say nothing. Show nothing. This is the moment to be completely closed. Not from fear but from strategic discipline.
六五：黄裳，元吉。
Line 5 — A yellow lower garment. Supreme good fortune. Yellow is the color of the center, the earth. The lower garment is hidden beneath the outer robe. Your greatest power is the one nobody can see.
上六：龙战于野，其血玄黄。
Line 6 — Dragons fighting in the field. Yin pushed to its extreme becomes yang-like and clashes with creative force. The receptive that tries to become the initiator creates conflict. Stay in your nature.
用六：利永贞。
All sixes — Favorable to remain perpetually steadfast. When every line is yin, the counsel is enduring constancy. Hold the receptive ground without wavering.
Nuclear Hexagram
Nuclear Hexagram: 2 坤 (Earth)
Like 乾, 坤's nuclear hexagram is itself. Pure receptivity examined at its core is still pure receptivity.
Practical Application
坤 appears when the right move is to support, not lead. To receive, not initiate. This doesn't mean weakness. It means the current situation requires the strength of the ground, not the force of the sky.
