The Constitution
A hard, cutting energy that must be forged to become useful. A 甲 or 己 day master whose hour pillar (or day pillar) is one of the three 金神 binomials — 癸酉, 己巳, or 乙丑 — forms this. 金神 is a martial, sharp, hewing energy. The classical line says 金神 entering a land of Fire produces command and visible rank: the spirit must be forged by Fire to become a usable blade.
Raw, the 金神 is hard and dangerous — a cutting force without form. Tempered by Fire, it becomes a true blade: command, authority, the rank won by a forged and disciplined edge. The whole formation turns on the forging. The spirit is real metal; whether it becomes a weapon or stays raw ore depends on the Fire.
It wants Fire to discipline it and fears Water quenching that Fire, or the spirit left unforged and running wild. The reading is whether the chart gives the 金神 a Fire to be tempered in.
What You See That Others Don't

Water quenching the Fire removes the forge, leaving the spirit untempered; and the 金神 left unforged runs wild, the cutting force dangerous and formless rather than disciplined into a blade. The work is to find and protect the forge — to seek the fire of discipline and challenge that tempers the raw spirit, and to keep that fire from being quenched, so the hard energy becomes command rather than running wild.
