需。有孚,光亨贞吉。利涉大川。

Water over Heaven. Clouds gathering above creative force. Rain has not yet fallen. The discipline of correct inaction.

The Lines

初九:需于郊,利用恒,无咎。

Line 1 — Waiting in the meadow. The danger is distant. Continue daily life.

九二:需于沙,小有言,终吉。

Line 2 — Waiting on the sand. Closer to the water. Tension increases. Ignore the noise. Stay focused.

九三:需于泥,致寇至。

Line 3 — Waiting in the mud. Too close to the danger. Your impatience brought you into vulnerable territory.

六四:需于血,出自穴。

Line 4 — Waiting in blood. Get out of the pit. You're in it now. The only instruction: get out.

九五:需于酒食,贞吉。

Line 5 — Waiting at the table with food and drink. The proper waiting. Nourish yourself while the timing matures.

上六:入于穴,有不速之客三人来,敬之终吉。

Line 6 — Three uninvited guests arrive. Honor them. What arrived wasn't planned. Welcome it anyway.
